The NFL Off Season is officially in full swing now, with the NFL Combine beginning today. We are in the midst of providing our readers with a list of every team in the NFL’s positional needs entering the off season. We have compiled all of these posts on our NFL Team Needs Page. Today, we will check out arguably the best division in football, the NFC West, which features the two time defending NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks. Before the jump we will take a look at the Rams team needs, followed by the 49ers, Cardinals, and Seahawks after the jump.
St. Louis Rams – Quarterback, Running Back, Cornerback, Tight End
The Rams are a very solid team with a lot of talent both offensively and defensively. However, they lack at the main position, quarterback. Sam Bradford has proven to be too injury prone to be an NFL Quarterback and perhaps this is the year the Rams finally move on. They are a team that is a quarterback away from really competing. Tre Mason had a disappointing year at running back and the Rams could use an upgrade there as well while also finding more talent and depth at both cornerback and tight end.
Follow us after the jump for the rest of the division
San Francisco 49ers – Wide Receiver, Defensive End, Outside Linebacker, Cornerback, Quarterback
The 49ers are a team that regressed a ton last year and most of that was due to Colin Kaepernick’s regression. While the 49ers could certainly use an upgrade at corner, it is unlikely they will look for one due to the money they owe Kaepernick. However, they must surround him with more talent for him to be successful. On defense, the 49ers could use an upgrade at their second starter at defensive end, outside linebacker, and cornerback, which are all positions where the 49ers have one great starter and one below average starter.
Arizona Cardinals – Outside Linebacker, Defensive End, Inside Linebacker, Offensive Tackle, Tight End,
The Cardinals had an amazing defense the past few years but they lose their defensive coordinator and the defense is aging. If they want to maintain their dominant defense, they must add talented youth at three key positions in the 3-4 defense, outside linebacker, defensive end, and inside linebacker. They have good players there who could possibly play one more season but they already started to show signs of aging at the end of the season. Then, on offense, the Cardinals could use upgrades at tackle and tight end, both positions where young players have failed to step up thus far.
Seattle Seahawks – Tight End, Wide Receiver, Offensive Guard, Defensive Tackle
The Seahawks are a great football team that is going to lose a lot of talent this year when they sign Wilson to an extension. However, first and foremost, they must provide Wilson with actually talented wide receivers and tight ends. After they address those two major needs, they are likely going to be in the market for a new starting guard and a new defensive tackle, as they will likely be priced out of the market for their current starters.
