Wesley Matthews tears left Achilles (Out for Season)

portlandTrailblazers shooting guard Wesley Matthews suffered an injury to his left foot injury during tonight’s game vs. the Dallas Mavericks. After having a post-game MRI it turns out Wes Matthews has a torn left Achilles and will miss the remainder of the season. Wes averaged 16.1 ppg, 2.3 assists with 3.7 rebounds. Those numbers are not going to be very easy to replace. Although the Blazers did make a trade for a shooting guard right at the deadline for Nuggets 29 year old SG Aaron Afflalo. Although Afflalo is only averaging around 8.6 pts per game since joining Portland, I think he will find his niche when being reinserted into the starting lineup. Also, with Afflalo in the starting lineup now, look for someone like CJ McCollum or Steve Blake step up as the 6th man. Stay tuned Portland fans, as it should be interesting to see how the starting lineup works with a new face.
