Fantasy Basketball Advice – March 11th

Well yesterday was interesting day of sorts. Blowouts tend to make things difficult in daily fantasy but the team survived. A couple disappointments but nothing unexpected, and the rest of the team picked up the slack. Valancunias was benched for some reason with six minutes left in the third and never returned. He was putting up a respectable game, the coach simply hasn’t found a way for him to flourish yet. Thaddeus Young also started out hot but but it didn’t stay that way, in a blowout nonetheless. Other than that, Shved had a monster game with Gobert, Monroe, and Lebron all doing their jobs.

Optimal Lineup:
PG: Ray McCallum
SG: James Harden
SF: Jeff Green
PF: Kenneth Faried
C: Robin Lopez
G: Isaiah Canaan
F: Marvin Williams
Utility: Chris Paul
Remaining Salary: $100

With many games on the slate tonight and a couple interesting injuries/returns, pay more attention to my below recommendations.

PG: There are several point guards I’m interested in playing tonight. If you are looking for value, McCallum, Canaan, and possibly Brooks are good plays. Canaan is an offensive weapon on a team lacking weapons and has been decent with Philly so far, this could be a breakout game for him. McCallum worked out the other night and is still cheap, will see minutes, and could put up good numbers. Paul did good against OKC last time but could be risky coming off an injury and with Griffin possibly coming back. I might prefer Steph at $1000 less coming off a great game by abusing the Pistons on a back to back. Also: Mike Conley and Mo Williams.
SG: James Harden. 45 and 44 actual points the last two times he’s faced Portland and will be going against a lesser defender in Affalo. It’s almost impossible not to start after two games like that. Even if he doesn’t break thirty, Harden has been going slightly under the radar lately due to Westbrook’s explosion and been putting up great assist and rebounding totals. This will be a great game at the end of night, Harden could lead you to victory. Consider Will Barton out of the bargain bin and also Joe Johnson who has scored double digits against Miami both times this year.
SF: I personally love starting players that are returning to old teams. Jeff Green played with Boston against Memphis earlier this year but will now be seeing his former team for the first time in Boston. He has played well the past two games and I expect him to have the green light again especially against his former team. Other small forwards offer too much risk for me, the only ones I would consider are Carroll and MKG tonight.

PF: Marvin Williams will probably be making a spot start for Cody Zeller but Williams typically gets 20 minutes a night and doesn’t normally impress. Although he’s risky, he’s cheap enough and as a starter will probably be more involved in the offense than when coming off the bench. I’m convinced Kenneth Faried is just only going to get better and although his price has increased, I still think he is worth it and offers extreme upside with a low ceiling. Aldridge almost never disappoints and could be forced to carry the load against Houston.

Center: Robin Lopez is capable of being like his brother but isn’t quite there yet. He’s worth a play tonight because against Houston last time, he was able to score 14 on a high percentage with only five rebounds. He is still very cheap for a starting center and as long as he grabs some more rebounds, he will be worth the price against whoever the Rockets have at center tomorrow. Alex Len will probably be seen a lot on here so get used to it. He’s had at least five blocks against Minnesota twice this year and is capable of doing that again tonight. The front court is his to take over in Phoenix, I think Len is going to finish very strong this year.
